The Best Snack at Walt Disney World
When planning a trip to the Disney parks, where and what to eat is usually on the forefront of many visitor’s minds. And everyone has their own opinion of the “best snack at Walt Disney World”.
One item that was always on my bucket list to try were the Mickey-shaped beignets. These deep-fried, fluffy square-shaped pieces of dough hail from Louisiana, specifically New Orleans. They were originally brought over by the French in the 17th century. Since then, beignets have become a staple in Creole cuisine. And now, one of the most sought after treats in Disney World!
We finally had the opportunity to indulge during a stay at Port Orleans – French Quarter, and my oh my were they worth the wait. Even my not-so-sweet-tooth of a husband savored every bite!
Fortunately, there are several establishments at Walt Disney World Resort where you can find these sugary sweet Mickey-shaped pillows:
Scat Cat’s Club Cafe
Located in the Port Orleans – French Quarter is Scat Cat’s Club Cafe, a quick-serve restaurant serving two of my favorite things, coffee and beignets! They offer a variety of beignet options, including the classic doughnut with powdered sugar and your choice of dipping sauce (we always go for the chocolate!), a beignet sundae with all the fixings, and even an adult-only version with Bailey’s Irish Cream. Seasonal varieties are also offered, so be sure to check out Scat Cat’s Club Cafe’s menu ahead of time.
Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie
One of our favorite places to snack in Disney World is Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie. This quick-serve bakery offering French cuisine is located at EPCOT in, you guessed it, France! Our go-to for a quick bite also serves chocolate-filled beignets. Pick up a fresh-baked baguette, a glass of wine, and of course, an order of beignets, and you’ll sure be transported to the beautiful streets of Paris!
Golden Oak Outpost
The transformation of Splash Mountain to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure also brought some of Princess Tiana’s tasty treats. Including, her famous beignet’s! You can find them at the Golden Oak Outpost located in Frontierland, served with powdered sugar and a drizzle of honey. (Note: if you purchase the photo souvenir after a fun-filled ride on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, you will also be gifted a recipe of Tiana’s famous beignets from the princess herself!).
