Itineraries
As a young adult I found that my best adventures were the ones where I “just winged it”. Whether it was hopping in my car to take a quick drive up to Vancouver, BC (when I lived in Seattle), or flying all the way to South Korea to visit a friend, only to find myself then booking a flight to visit my dream destination, Thailand, with no idea what to expect. I have memories from those days that will last me a lifetime. Fast-forward to present time….as a mom, the idea of “winging it” with my kids is a bit frightening. While I relish in the idea of emulating my past adventurous self, I don’t think my mom-self will allow me to do so. My boys are quite the energizer bunnies and do much better with a structured day. Maybe it’s the anticipation of what’s to come that helps keep them on task, but either way, we have found that having at least an idea of a schedule works better for us.
When planning our next adventures, I find that I spend most of my time researching the area we will be exploring and finding the top “must-do’s”, including the “must-do’s” with kids and the “must-eats”. Building an itinerary can be very time consuming as you try to figure out how to fit everything you want to do in the limited amount of time you have. While we don’t always stick to our plans to a tee, having those expectations helps lower the stress levels in our day, which in turns allows us to enjoy and appreciate the memories shared with our kids.

OUR ITINERARIES
Hopefully the time I spent building these itineraries can help you save time in building yours. Please comment feel free to comment if you have any questions, and especially if I missed anything that I should add as a “must-see or eat” for the next time!
